Sports Event Essay

The game I attended was the Dolphins v.s. Titans in Miami, fl. It was the last regular season home game for the dolphins so quite a few fans were in attendance. The game wasn’t close to being sold out but many dolphin games don’t even the playoffs. We got some good seats because fortunately for use we ran into Pedro who scalped us some nice 30 yard line tickets. They were about 35 to 45 bucks but so were tickets at the gate so it was a pretty sweet deal.

When we sat down at our seats we had a pretty good view of the Tennessee Titians team and even a better view of the Miami Dolphin cheerleaders. Before I walked to my seats my brother notice one of the Dolphins super fans. He had a hard hat we a Miami Dolphins logo on the sides. He also had a throwback Marino jersey who’s considered god there and real football uniform pants. He defiantly stuck out like a swore thumb. We laughed because the guy looked pretty crazy and we were right once the game started.

During the game some band kids on the field would throw random things into the stands like balloons, t-shirts, and other objects. None of the things reached our way but it was fun watching people fight over a bunch of dollar store crap. The fans were very intense down there. They really hated the visiting team and my little 7 year old brother was wearing a titan’s shirt. Knowing this me and my brother thought there might be a drunk A-hole who might try to start something with are little brother. We were ready for any altercations and to be honest unless the guys huge it’s not that much of a challenge to beat the crap out of a drunken guy.

The game was pretty good; I got to see some of my favorite players up close and saw Chris Chambers make an amazing end zone catch. Ricky Williams was also decent but Pacman Jones disappointed. It didn’t come to me as a surprise because he was always overrated to me. Their was also this lady in the stands who would make this weird Mexican fiesta scream. The crowd went nuts and chanted for an encore which she happily gave. I thought that was a little interesting so I added it in.

Another important part of the game and probably the most interacting part for all the fans in the stadium was the “wave”. It took a lot of attempts from some super fans in the front row to start the thing up. I think a guy tried like five or six times to have everybody stand up in our section. Then on the opposite side of the stadium the wave started to emerge. It had gone a couple times but it wasn’t full circle. Then finally it came around to our section and everybody started going crazy. Right before the wave reached our section everybody was stomping their feet and felt like the stadium was about to collapse. It was crazy to see the wave coming because from a sitting position it actually looked like a wave of bodies flying toward you. It got so intense people forgot about the game being played on the field.

The whole experience was very interactive even though nobody got to step foot on the field. It’s crazy how you can become so important to the game and yet not actually play in it. I think hands down being at a professional or even college football game is the most interactive thing somebody can do unless your actually playing the football game.
